Irvine, Calif. – Start-up  Killer Concepts unveiled a portable AC/DC Bluetooth speaker promoted as playing louder and longer than competing models and at half the price.

The $99-suggested speaker, housed in an aluminum chassis, delivers 100dB of output and offers 10-plus hours of playback. Swappable lithium-ion batteries extend playback time.

The RocksteadyXS also features a USB port to play back MP3 music files from connected mass-storage devices. The USB port charges phones, tablets and other devices, and a 3.5mm aux input connects to any music source with a 3.5mm output.

Front-facing controls and Bluetooth AVRCP let users move tracks up or down and play/pause media on a connected Bluetooth source. The controls also work with popular music-streaming apps, such as Pandora, on smartphones and tablets, the company said.

With direct-fulfillment capabilities and key distributors on board, the company said it can fulfill orders direct to store, direct to consumer and direct to distribution center. The start-up company was founded last fall.
