Long Beach, Calif. – Kenwood has begun shipping three CD-receivers, one new digital media receiver (DMR), a new marine CD-receiver, and a marine CD-receiver/speaker combo.
All products feature the company’s new Drive EQ technology, which compensates for road or marine noise by boosting output at select frequencies. All head units feature 4x50-watt maximum amplification.
At a suggested $110 and $120, two of the three non-marine CD-receivers offer iPod/iPhone USB and control of the Pandora and iHeart Radio apps running on a USB-connected iPhone. iHeart app control is new to the $110 price point in CD-receivers.
The third non-marine CD-receiver, also at a suggested $110, features front mounted USB port to connect mass-storage device. That model lacks AppMode, which is available on the other two CD-receivers to enable audio playback of iPhone apps such as TuneIn Radio and Aupeo.
AppMode is also available on the $100 DMR and the $140 marine CD-receiver. Both also feature iPod/iPhone USB with control of iHeart and Pandora on a USB-connected iPhone. The DMR’s predecessor at the same price point lacked iHeart control.
The marine receiver features control of an optional outboard SiriusXM SXV Connect Vehicle Tuner.
The receiver/speaker combo is priced at $240 and consists of the $140 marine receiver and a pair of two-way 6.5 inch speakers with maximum 100-watt power handling.
The marine receiver can be controlled from an optional $90 wired remote. Up to six wired remotes can be added to the marine head unit.
