New York — Sept. 28 is the date that the iPhone 5 comes to carriers other than AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.

Yesterday, prepaid carrier Cricket announced plans to make the iPhone 5 available Sept. 28, and now three regional carriers plan Sept. 28 availability. All of the carriers already offer the previous-generation iPhone.

The three national carriers will offer the iPhone 5 on Sept. 21.

C Spire, formerly Cellular South, of Ridgeland, Miss., Appalachian Wireless of Ivel, Ky., and GCI of Anchorage, Alaska, plans Sept. 28 availability, but none of the carriers announced iPhone 5 pricing or plans.

Sprint’s Virgin Mobile prepaid brand also offers the current iPhone, but the brand declined to confirm whether it will offer the iPhone 5.
