E Fun Expands Google-Certified Tablet Selection

West Covina, Calif. — China-based tablet maker E Fun has expanded its selection of Google-certified tablets to four with the launch of two models exclusively through Hastings superstores nationwide and online at GoHastings.com.

E Fun plans to offer only Google-certified tablets in the future as part of a new strategy to build its share of the value tablet market.

The company recently launched two Google-certified NextBook tablets — a $69-everyday 7-inch tablet with 1GHz processor and an 8-inch 1.5GHz dual-core tablet with HD 1,024 by 768 display — on an exclusive basis through almost all of Walmart’s 3,000 brick-and-mortar stores.

The two new models, the $129 Nextbook Premium 7HD and $149 Nextbook Premium 8H, are available only through Hastings for now but will be available at additional retailers in 2013, the company said.

Both models feature Android 4.1, high-definition capacitive touchscreens and dual-core 1.5GHz processors. The Premium 7HD has a 7-inch 1,024 by 600 screen, and the Premium 8Hi has a 8-inch 1,024 by 768 IPS screen. Shared features include 1GB DDR3 system memory, 8GB internal storage, 5GB of Cloud storage from SugarSync, front and back webcams, an HDMI-out port, USB 2.0 slot, 32GB MicroSD slot and built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n,. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to six hours of music playback, six hours of HD video playback or five hours of web browsing.

Both tablets are preloaded with the Hastings Readmor app to access hundreds of thousands of eBooks on GoHastings.com.

Hastings Entertainment outlets combine sales of consumer electronics with new and used books, videos, video games and CDs. It also rents video games. The retailer currently operates 136 superstores with an average size of 24,000 square feet, primarily in medium-sized markets.
