Santa Clara, Calif. -- Rovi’s DivX unit introduced this week DivX Plus Software for the creation of streaming, high-quality video.
The multi-component DivX Plus Software for Windows and Mac is available free to download at DivX.com and supports faster video conversion, output to iPhones and iPads, as well as streaming to DLNA-compatible home electronics.
The new version is also the first software package to support DivX Plus Streaming, the new adaptive streaming format, which is being supported by a number of studios, retailers, and the CE industry manufacturers for delivering an advanced feature set supporting FullHD 1080p, subtitles, multiple language tracks, and trick-play functions, such as smooth fast forward and rewind.
“DivX Plus Software is an important element of the DivX ecosystem and created to enable consumers to enjoy their favorite video entertainment on their terms when and where they choose and in the highest possible quality,” said Matt Milne, Rovi worldwide sales and marketing executive VP.
DivX Plus Software provides an optimized way to playback all common video formats on Windows and Mac desktops and in the browser.
DivX Plus Software also seamlessly connects consumers to the broader network of DivX-powered premium movie storefronts and DivX Certified consumer electronics devices.
The software package is comprised of four individual components: the DivX Plus Player, the DivX Plus Web Player, the DivX Plus Codec Pack, and the DivX Plus Converter.
The DivX Plus Player includes the DivX To Go feature that makes it easy to transfer videos from the computer to some 750 million DivX devices in use around the world.
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
