Harrisburg, Pa. – D&H Distributing is ending its 95th anniversary year with by reporting approximately 11 percent growth in its final quarter of 2013 over last year’s Q4.
While the distributor did not report actual sales figures D&H said in a statement that this reflects “significant increases in hot areas such as tablets and mobility products,” and said that tablets experienced more than 200 percent growth in Q4 2013 compared to the same period last year, confirming that demand for this format is still mounting.
D&H foresees ongoing opportunities in 2014 for dealers and retailers in mobility and other emerging areas.
The distributor added, “Although 4K Ultra television displays are still mostly beyond the financial means of the typical consumer this year, costs are predicted to stabilize toward acceptable mainstream levels in 2014, which will likely boost adoption of this next-generation technology.”
Other anticipated growth areas for 2014 are wearable technologies, such as bracelets that monitor the user’s vital signs; and “DIY” do-it-yourself technologies in home automation, such as energy-saving, “learning” thermostats. In addition, both Windows 8 tablets and Chromebooks are attaining momentum in small office and home office environments, with Windows 8 gaining favor in units with smaller screen sizes.
Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H, said, “The year has included some notable high points, such as the ongoing mobility explosion, and more recently, healthy numbers for Black Friday weekend. We’re glad that our customers have seen encouraging gains this year, and we look forward to what 2014 will bring in emerging areas such as 4K and DIY technologies. D&H remains well-positioned to support its dealer customers as they pursue these opportunities.”
