Calabasas, Calif. — DBest has begun selling its third Bluetooth speaker, the shape-shifting $249-suggested Transformative, through Amazon and airport retailers APW Brands and Bluwire.
Additional retailers are in the works.
Earlier this spring, the London-based company launched its first two Bluetooth speakers in the U.S. All three speakers are portable rechargeable models, and they are marketed exclusively in the U.S. Smart IT USA.
DBest’s other two Bluetooth speakers are available through Amazon.com, InMotion Entertainment, Fry’s and Brookstone.com, among other retailers.
The new model is called Transformative because its twists into different shapes, including circles and squiggles, via two flexible sections that rotate up to 180 degrees. It features stereo Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, MP3/WMA MicroSD-card player and 3.5mm aux input. A built-in microphone turns the speaker into a hands-free speakerphone whose onboard OLED display provides caller ID, track information, battery status, and clock and calendar. Its rechargeable lithium battery delivers up to 25 hours of continuous Bluetooth and SD card playback time, the company said.
The speaker delivers up to 50 hours of playback time when connected to an audio device via by 3.5mm input. With the system’s USB host function, consumers can use a connected PC or Mac to modify the contents of the speaker’s memory card, DBest said.
The Transformative can be recharged by connecting an included USB cable to a PC or laptop or by connecting the cable to a power outlet via USB adapter.
