Santa Clara, Calif. – CyberLink introduced this week its Director Suite bundle of professional-grade video and still image editing/production tools.
The suite includes the latest versions of CyberLink’s PowerDirector 11 and PhotoDirector 4 software in addition to new tools ColorDirector, which is a post-production color grading program and AudioDirector, a sound design program. All have been developed for seamless interoperability and roundtrip production of edited video content.
The software is available either as stand-alone versions or as a part of several suite bundles:
CyberLink Director Suite is available now from the CyberLink online store and will be available in retail channels starting in October.
PowerDirector 11 includes support for 4K Ultra HD video content and adds content-aware tools that help to produce the best footage within a user’s raw video clips.
Also added is support for DTS 7.1 audio, a new template and style design studio, AVDHD 3D and progressive formats, and more than 50 interface enhancements.
PowerDirector 11 is billed as “the world’s fastest 64-bit video editor,” with rendering speed improved about 40 percent over the previous version and “almost 80 times faster than Premiere Element,” said Richard Carriere, CyberLink’s global marketing senior VP.
PhotoDirector 4, meanwhile, brings a newly advanced photo workflow solution to PCs and Macs (with support for Retina displays). New to the program is face tagging, content-aware object removal, improved chromatic aberration correction, curves, geometry correction, partial masks, and a body-shaper tool that lets photographers easily tweak images to help their subjects look slimmer and younger.
The new content-aware editing capability provides a host of automatic applications that are useful to consumers, such as taking very boring and long vacation videos and reducing them down to just the scenes that a viewer needs.
The tool categorizes content based on zoom, pan, faces, motion, shaky video and poor lighting, and can automatically remove or fix poor sequences and keep the best ones containing lots of faces, motion and some pan, for example, in a reduced, tight clip with lots of visually stimulating elements. Problem areas such as camera shaky can also be smoothed out with a click of a button.
In addition, a new Ripple Editing feature allows choices for how clips indentified through content-aware are inserted into the editing timeline.
The ColorDirector video color-grading tool (available separately at a $129 suggested retail), provides professional-grade lighting tonality adjustment and regional color changes using motion tracking. Using the tool, daylight scenes can be made to look like night.
The program can use color themes to give images an emotional feel or period look. The tool works seamlessly with the PowerDirector editor.
AudioDirector, meanwhile, enables professional multi-track audio recording, editing and restoration. Background noise and clicks can be removed, and a “visual audio repair” function provides a viewable graph to quickly see where audio imperfections have been introduced in the soundtrack for easier removal or adjustment.
The tool can even be used to reduce or eliminate wind noise.
With the latest software introductions, Carriere said CyberLink will significantly expand its marketplace presence around the world.
“When Window’s 8 comes out, we will be bundling versions of our software on PCs from all of the top 20 manufacturers in the world,” said Carriere. “The top 10 will each have at least three of our products. So starting with the launch of Windows 8, we will be the only consumer multimedia offering that comes preloaded on most of the PCs in the world.”
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
