Coby Ships First Tablets With Google Mobile Services

Lake Success, N.Y. – Coby Electronics shipped its first Android tablet with access to the Google Play Store and Google Mobile services, and the company plans to ship two more in March and additional models later in the year.

Coby, a longtime supplier of Android-based tablets, previously offered Android tablets that accessed thousands of free apps through the GetJar app store.

The tablet available now is the 7-inch MID7065 at a suggested $139. The two models arriving in March are the 8-inch MID8065 at a suggested $179 and 10-inch MID1065 at $229. All let users access the latest Android apps on Google Play, Google Maps for Android, and Gmail webmail services. They also feature Chrome browser.

All three also feature 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 8GB internal storage, 32GB expandable storage, accelerometer and gyroscope sensors for enhanced motion detection, front-facing 0.3-megapixel camera; rear-facing 2-megapixel camera on the 8- and 10-inch models, HDMI 1080p output and rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
