CE Week Featured 160 Exhibitors

New York — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reported that CE Week 2013, held here June 24-28, had 160 exhibitors, the most in its history.

“This record-breaking CE Week certainly brought to life our vision for bringing the best of the industry’s innovations and experts to New York for a midyear ‘reality check’ on what’s happening in the technology industry,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA

Among the events was the 2nd Screen Summit, produced by TWICE, Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance, which featured a keynote by Dish Network’s Vivek Khemka. Khemka revealed that the satellite-TV provider is opening its second-screen application programming interface (API) to “trusted third-party partners.” There was also a discussion of the smart TVs and how to sell the 2nd screen at retail.

The CEA Research Summit, a full-day event held on June 25, included a look at the tablet and PC market, TVs and overall retail competition.

The CE Week Line Shows began with a one-on-one discussion with CEA’s Shapiro and Chet Kanojia, CEO and founder of Aereo. The two had an in-depth conversation about how technology innovation drives Aereo’s business strategy.

The event also featured a week-long series of technology events across the city, including the CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits, CE Week Line Shows Conference, New York’s Next Top Maker’s Pitch Night, FashionWare Runway Show, Mobile Apps Showdown and more.

The 2014 CE Week is scheduled for June 23-27, here.
