Washington — Electronics and appliance store sales decreased 2.3 percent unadjusted year over year for June, according to the National Retail Federation.
However, the seasonally adjusted figure had sales almost flat, with a 0.1 percent dip.
Seasonally adjusted general merchandise store sales also fell 0.1 percent, with unadjusted sales decreasing 0.7 percent for June.
Overall, consumer spending and retail sales in June were weak, showing just a 0.6 percent seasonally adjusted uptick. Unadjusted sales were up 3 percent.
NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay said these numbers indicate a recovery is underway, but its pace remains modest.
