Tempe, Ariz. – Blaupunkt is planning to ship a new in-dash multimedia-navigation system, a new A/V multimedia head unit, and its first mono amp to the car audio aftermarket.

The navigation system is the $699-suggested New York, which ships at the end of March to replace a current New York nav system.

The double-DIN unit features 6.2-inch 800x480 TFT touchscreen, CD/DVD player, stereo Bluetooth, iPod/iPhone control via USB, playback of audio and video stored on USB sticks, front SDHC/MMC card slot for audio and video playback, front and rear USB ports and iPod/iPhone video support for Apple mobile devices with 30-pin connector.

It also features two video outputs for rear-seat entertainment systems, rear-camera input, three-band parametric EQ, 4x45-watt maximum output, and decoding of AVI, MPEG, MPG, Xvid, video formats. The device decodes 32-320kbps MP3 files and 32-192kbps WMA files.

The new multimedia head unit is the $349 Los Angeles, which is an addition to the line and offers most of the same features as the New York except for navigation. The ship date hasn’t been finalized.

To its amplifier line, Blaupunkt is adding its first mono model, which joins a two-channel and a four-channel model. The $209 amp is rated at 1,000 watts maximum into 2 ohms. The amp ships at the end of March.

Blaupunkt products are marketed in the U.S. by Rockford Corp., which sells through regional distributors and national distributor Ingram Micro. The regional distributors are Premiere Marketing in the Southeast, CPD in the Pacific Northwest, Woofer Electronics in the Chicago area, B Rich in New York, and T & W in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
