Minneapolis – Best Buy has linked its commerce system to ShopSavvy’s mobile payment program.
A leading provider of mobile shopping services, ShopSavvy has integrated the retailer’s application programming interfaces (APIs) into ShopSavvy Wallet, a service that allows consumers to pay for purchases by tapping their nearfield communication (NFC)-enabled mobile devices on an NFC checkout terminal.
Other participating ShopSavvy Wallet retailers include Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Nordstrom, Toys “R” Us, JCPenney and The Home Depot.
ShopSavvy also allows users to price and purchase products online from their smartphones, and locate and price items at nearby stores, by scanning a barcode or inputting a product name.
Conversely, the platform allows retailers and advertisers to deliver narrowly targeted, localized deals, warranty offers, and other UPC and GPS-based content to users.
ShopSavvy said the APIs, provided by Best Buy’s BBYOpen developer group, will strengthen its leadership position in mobile payments and will provide its more than 10 million active users with additional and more quickly delivered online and local store offers.

Best Buy first partnered with ShopSavvy last year on an in-store back-to-school checklist app.
