Playa Vista, Calif. — Belkin reported it has entered into an agreement with Cisco to buy that company’s home networking business unit.

The deal will move the unit’s personnel and the Linksys brand name and products to Belkin. Financial details were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close in March. Cisco acquired Linksys in 2003 for $500 million.

Belkin will retain the Linksys brand and honor all valid warranties for Linksys products.

The two companies will also enter into a strategic partnership that will include retail distribution, marketing and supplying products for the service market. Further details on these forthcoming plans were not immediately available.
