Dallas – AT&T will launch a quartet of LTE-equipped Samsung devices in the coming months, including an LTE-equipped Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the Galaxy Note II smartphone/tablet “phablet,” and two other smartphones.
All are Android-based devices. Pricing and exact launch dates weren’t revealed.
The phones include the Galaxy Express Android 4.0 smartphone with 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2,000 mAh battery and 5-megapixel rear camera.
For people with active lifestyles, AT&T will offer the Rugby Pro, which is built to 810g military specifications to make it shock-resistant and dust-proof. It is also submersible in water up to 3.3 feet for up to 30 minutes. The Rugby Pro features 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with 720p video capture, enhanced push-to-talk functionality when AT&T launches that service, and business-grade features such as device encryption and EAS corporate email support.
The Galaxy Note II tablet/smartphone hybrid, unveiled earlier this month for sale through multiple carriers, sports improved battery life, a thinner narrower design, and S Pen stylus improvements compared to its predecessor. It will launch with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, and 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor with integrated graphics processing unit.
The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, which has been available as a $349 Wi-Fi-only model in the U.S, will be available with 4G LTE on the AT&T network and, presumably 4G HSPA+21Mbps. The Android 4.0 tablet features 10.1-inch display and such entertainment options as Samsung’s Media Hub, Smart Remote and AllShare Play. It also features on-device encryption and VPN access for enterprise use. Its 7,000 mAh battery is said to last throughout the day.
The Tab 2 10.1 is a larger screen version of the current 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which is available in the U.S. as a Wi-Fi model and as a 4G LTE model on the Verizon network.
