AT&T Prices 1.7GHz Quad-Core HTC Phone

Dallas – AT&T announced pricing and availability of two more 4G LTE Android smartphones, both made by HTC and one sporting a quad-core 1.7GHz processor with battery-saving fifth core.

The quad-core phone, the HTC One X+, offers the fastest processor announced in a smartphone to date and uses the 1.7GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 4-Plus-1 processor with a battery-saving fifth core, AT&T said. The Android 4.1 JellyBean phone will also be the first smartphone in the U.S. to feature HTC Sense 4+ user interface to deliver performance improvements, the carrier said.

Other speedy quad-core phones announced to date for the U.S. include the quad-core 1.6GHz Samsung Galaxy Note II and LG’s quad-core 1.5GHz Optimus G.

The HTC One X+, a step up from AT&T’s original One X, will be available Nov. 16 for $199.99 with a two-year agreement.

The HTC One VX, exclusive to AT&T, runs Android 4.0 and is positioned as an affordable Android smartphone and has one of the slimmest unibody form factors in the industry at just 0.36 inches thin. It will be available Nov. 16 for $49.99 with a two-year agreement.

HTC One X+ features 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, 8-megapixel rear-facing HD camera and 64GB internal storage. To save power, the processor uses one core for everyday use and revs up into quad-core mode for video, gaming and other demanding apps.

Compared to the original HTC One X, the One X offers faster CPU, longer battery life and more internal storage at 64GB.

The One VX has a 4.5-inch display laminated with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass to improve durability and reduce light reflection. A 5-megapixel 1080p camera/camcorder, which goes from lock screen to shooting photos in less than a second, offers continuous shooting at 4 fps. It also captures still images from a video. Other features include nearfield communication (NFC) and HTC Sense 4 interface.

In the future, the original HTC One X and HTC One VX will be upgraded to HTC Sense 4+ and Android 4.1, which will add the improved camera capabilities and new NFC-enabled Tap and Go function available on the HTC One X+. Tap and Go lets customers use NFC to pair the phone to Beats’ tabletop speakers when tapped together to enable stereo Bluetooth streaming.
