Dallas – AT&T will become the first U.S. carrier to carry Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active smartphone, the water- and dust-resistant device announced last week by Samsung’s headquarters in Korea.
The phone will be available June 21 at $199 with two-year contract. Consumers can preorder beginning June 14 at ATT.com/GalaxyS4Active. The S 4 Active will be available in Urban Gray and Dive Blue.
The quad-core Android 4.2.2 model offers almost all of the same features as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 but adds IP67 water and dust resistance to seal out dust and protect the device from damage when under 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Its camera also adds an Aqua mode to increase the visual quality and clarity of images and videos taken under water for enhanced underwater images and video. The main camera’s LED flash also turns into an LED flashlight.
The device’s Multi Window feature lets consumers use two apps side by side, and an optional Easy mode simplifies the homescreen with larger icons and selects favorite apps.
