Amazon Unveils Cloud Photo Storage

Seattle – Amazon unveiled this week its Cloud Drive Photos app for devices based on the Android operating system, such as its Kindle tablets.

The app and service allows Android devices to automatically and safely store images in the cloud.

The Cloud Drive Photos app service provides users with 5GB of free storage, enough to hold thousands of digital photo files within fingertip reach.

Cloud Drive Photos is said to be safe and simple to use. To store a photo, users must press and hold on a photo album on their device, and select “Upload to Cloud Drive” to save images to the Amazon Cloud.

After the initial 5GB of storage is used up, customers can purchase additional space, starting at $10 for 20GB.

The Cloud Drive uses the same data storage infrastructure used by Amazon’s global network of websites, the company added.
