Irvine, Calif. –Alcatel One Touch, as part of its strategy to build its smartphone business in the U.S., has begun offering its first smartphones to T-Mobile.
The Fierce and Evolve, positioned as affordable Android smartphones, were available earlier this month through select national retailers on prepaid plans, and now they’re rolling out to other indirect retailers and to T-Mobile stores, T-Mobile said.
The One Touch Fierce is a 4G HSPA+ Android 4.2 phone with 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. The Evolve features 3G HSPA, Android 4.1, 1GHz MediaTek CPU, 4-inch WVGA display, 4GB memory, 5-megapixel main camera with 720p video capture, and front-facing VGA camera.
Both devices are preloaded with Nuance’s Swype keyboard and feature T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling.
The Evolve became available today, Oct. 16, through T-Mobile’s stores and indirect retailers, excluding national chains. The Fierce becomes available Oct. 23 through the same channels. The Evolve is priced at $27.99 down with 24 equal monthly device payments of $3, and the Fierce is priced at $19.99 down with 24 equal monthly device payments of $6.
Through national retailers, the Evolve became available through Walmart and Best Buy earlier this month and will become available through Target on Nov. 10. The Fierce became available earlier this month through Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.
