Glenview, Ill. — Abt Electronics has become the first retailer in the Greater Chicago area to add LG’s 84-inch Ultra High-Definition LED LCD TV.
In a statement, LG said: “Abt Electronics is the first retailer in Chicagoland to officially launch an Ultra High-Definition flat-panel TV.”
Model 84LM9600 ($19,999 suggested retail) was demonstrated to more than 500 area consumers at Abt’s gala unveiling last Thursday night. The set offers 3,840 by 2,160 resolution — four times that of FullHD 1080p displays.
The set includes LG’s Resolution Upscaler Plus technology to present 1080p material at up to 8 million pixels on the screen.
It will also accept native 4K Ultra HD material as that becomes available.
Abt Electronics co-president Jon Abt said, “Clearly, this is a premium product for discerning consumers. LG is an early leader in the brave new world of Ultra HD TV, and we are proud that Abt is the first retailer in Chicagoland to bring this incredible home entertainment experience to consumers.”
“Picture quality has always been LG’s foremost priority, one that’s especially important now as manufacturers scale TVs to meet the trend line pointing toward larger and larger sizes,” said Jay Vandenbree, LG Electronics USA home entertainment business senior VP. “LG Ultra HD TV from Abt truly ushers in a new era in home entertainment.”
