Verizon Wireless has added Sony Mobile's SmartWatch for Android phones.

Bedminster, N.J. - Sony Mobile rolled out its Bluetooth-connected watch for Android smartphones to Verizon Wireless, having offered the device on its website and through Sony stores.

The $149-suggested device is now available online at VerizonWireless.com and select Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.

Bluetooth-connected smart watches give users the ability to view information and control key smartphone functions from the SmartWatch's touchscreen without removing the phone from a pocket or purse.

The SmartWatch's vibration and screen alerts notify users of incoming calls and appointments, and its display lets users read email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter updates, and the weather forecasts. The device also controls music playback and call-handling functions such as mute, reject, answer and sending pre-defined SMS. Users can also download SmartWatch applications through Google Play.

SmartWatch works with most Android (2.1 and above) smartphones.

The swipe-able 1.3-inch OLED display operates up to four days on one charge. SmartWatch bands are available in multiple colors.
