FLIR Unveils Consumer Camera Line

CES 2014 Las Vegas- 20422 – FLIR Systems is unveiling here its FLIR FX compact Wi-Fi camera and 2014 CES Innovations Design & Engineering Awards winner.

The camera, which will ship in the spring at a $249 suggested retail price, is billed as an easy-to-use, affordable video monitoring solution with a wide range of applications from outdoor security, home monitoring, and sports recording.

Camera resolution is listed at up to 1080p, and the field of view is 160 degrees.

The camera will record for up to four hours, off its internal battery and has a variety of cordless mounting options.

The camera is will connect with smartphones and tablets, and the Internet from anywhere in the world. The camera’s Wi-Fi hotspot also can be used to create a secure, direct connection without any Internet access.

FLIR’s free Cloud Services is available to connect the camera with iOS and Android mobile devices easily, and can be used for local recording, and playback features with no recurring fees.

Other features include two-way audio, security-grade night vision, push notifications, smart alerts for motion and audio detection, and temperature monitoring.

FLIR offers a wide range of purpose-built accessories and mounting stands including the included indoor home monitor stand. Optional stands include: a dashboard mount for recording events in a vehicle, a weather proof enclosure for outdoor use, and wearable accessories for action sports.

FLIR said the FX is the first in a series of consumer cameras that will continue to see enhancements with new technologies throughout 2014.

The introduction of FLIR’s exclusive Thermal Fence technology used in conjunction with thermal imaging, will enable the cameras to provide a range of advanced security benefits based on military-grade thermal vision.  Future cloud-based services will provide options for advanced features extending the cameras’ capabilities, including smart alerts utilizing video analytics, and accurate human and vehicle detection.
