CES 2014 Las Vegas — Panasonic subsidiary Aupeo will team with DTS to launch a multichannel music-streaming service later this year using the DTS-HD surround codec.
Aupeo will target automakers as well as mobile devices incorporating DTS Headphone:X technology, which delivers surround sound through any pair of headphones.
“We realize that for many consumers, music is mostly consumed on mobile devices and in the car,” said Keith Burnett, DTS product management VP for home A/V and automotive. DTS wants “to make sure that regardless of how or where consumers choose to listen to their music, they hear it how it was meant to be heard.”
Elliot Scheiner, multi Grammy Award-winning music producer and engineer, is collaborating with Aupeo and DTS to create the service.
