New York – Audi will go to International CES to announce a partnership with Google to develop Android-based in-car infotainment systems, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Google wants to embed the Android OS and Android apps, including music and navigation apps, in the car’s dash, the report said. Audi previously announced plans to embed 4G LTE cellular chips in vehicles, so an in-dash Android infotainment system could presumably be used to stream cloud-based services to the car, including Internet music services.
Apple earlier this year announced its iOS in the Car initiative to enable the touchscreens of OEM infotainment systems to control phone-based apps and services.
