Olympus, SiPix Debut Digital Imaging Innovations At PC Expo

NEW YORK— A few new digital cameras will be displayed for the first time at PC Expo here this week, including a high-end, 4-megapixel model from Olympus and several lower priced models from newcomer SiPix.
Olympus rounds out its Camedia line with the high-end Camedia C-4040 Zoom featuring 4.14-megapixel resolution and a 3X zoom lens.
The C-4040, shipping in July, has an F1.8 aperture digital zoom lens with an extended flash range, the Olympus USB Auto-Connect feature, auto or manual white balance and exposure settings, and a suggested retail price of $999. Other features include a 2 frame-per-second burst-mode, QuickTime movie, black and white or sepia shooting modes, Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) and more compression settings.
SiPix will introduce the SP-1300 Shoot & Share 1.3-megapixel digital camera. The SP-1300 connects directly to the new SiPix PocketColor 200 for instant printing of digital photographs. The camera features a 2x digital zoom, a manual exposure compensation button, Direct Print Order Format (DPOF) compliance, and special effects, including black and white and sepia modes, four megabytes of internal memory, a CompactFlash slot, red-eye reduction and a dual-mode self timer. The SP-1300 will be available in July for a suggested retail price of $179.
SiPix also announced the SCP-1000 Digital Instant Camera — a digital camera with a 2-inch x 2.5-inch continuous tone photo printer built in. It features VGA resolution with 4MB of internal memory and a CompactFlash extension slot. It also offers a 2x digital zoom, a four-mode built in flash, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and battery charger.
The SCP-1000 will be available in August and will have a suggested retail price of $299.
SiPix's final camera entry is the iQuest Roam for capturing both desktop video and still digital pictures. The camera has 8MB of internal memory, a CompactFlash slot, and is bundled with MGI PhotoSuite III SE, Odyssey Multimedia Gallery (which includes the WatchDog Motion detector that guards your computing space by recording a video when movement is detected). The iQuest Roam will ship in July at a suggested retail price of $99.
To complement the cameras, SiPix is also releasing the PocketColor 200 Print & Share digital photo printer. It uses thermal color transfer to create 2-inch x 2.5-inch photos. The PocketColor 200 will be available in July for a suggested retail price of $179. Any digital photographer can use the printer, as it can print directly from a Windows-based PC or notebook via a USB cable.
Additionally, the PocketColor 200 works directly with the SiPix SP-1300 digital camera. This allows for direct printing from the digital camera without the need for a computer.
