Motorola Ringing Up 'Sweet' Phone Covers

Staff -- TWICE, 6/25/2001

SCHAUMBURG, ILL.— Motorola has formed an alliance with cosmetics company Hard Candy to design interchangeable colored and textured covers for the Motorola i50sx wireless phone.

Motorola is introducing several cover sets, which include Hard Candy-designed interchangeable faceplates with matching battery covers.

Cover set colors coordinate with Hard Candy's nail polish colors and feature the Hard Candy logo. The first cover set is periwinkle with a velvety soft-touch texture and is being sold with a sample size of coordinating Hard Candy nail polish.

The Hard Candy cover sets are available exclusively through the Web site.

The Motorola i50sx model phone allows users to customize their handsets by downloading and running applications such as address books, calendars and games, similar to the way users update their PCs or handheld computers.

"Young adults today demand a personalized look in their high-tech products to reflect their personalities and lifestyles," said Bill Werner, Motorola corporate VP and general manager of the company's iDEN Subscriber Group.

"The Hard Candy cover sets will allow users to personalize the look of their phones, while the Motorola i50sx handset will allow users to customize the features and functions of their phones," Werner said.

Suggested retail for a Makeover Kit with faceplate, battery cover and matching nail polish is $39.95.
