Princeton Bows 32-inch Flat Tube HDTV Display

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 6/11/2001

SANTA ANA, CALIF. — Princeton Graphic Systems introduced a flat-faced direct view monitor that will present 720p and 1080i HDTV pictures on its 32-inch 4:3 screen.

Model Ai3.2HD will display ATSC and NTSC television signals and VGA, SVGA and XGA PC sources in the 480p, 720p and 1080i picture formats. The monitor also integrates a Ch.1 interactive entertainment services browser to present Internet content in progressive scan.

The Ai3.2HD comes standard with a built-in DVDO 503 deinterlacer and universal IR remote/keyboard/ mouse and is scheduled to begin shipping in July 2001 with a suggested list price of $3,499.00. Key features of the monitor include a wide video bandwidth of 40 MHz and dual auto-detect Y-Pb-Pr to RGB transcoder matrices for 480p and HDTV. Also added are four aspect ratio presets, adjustable color temperature settings and a built-in NTSC tuner.

The DVDO 503 line doubler/scaler features auto source detection to employ a 3:2 pulldown technique if a film source is identified.

The monitor will connect to Princeton's recently introduced model HDT-2000 DTV set-top decoder (available now at a $899 suggested retail) that receives both digital ATSC and analog NTSC signals.
