Phoenix Gold Bows Tantrum Amp Line

PORTLAND, ORE. — Phoenix Gold will release this month its new Tantrum amplifier series featuring aluminum alloy-cast chassis for increased thermal power handling and new cosmetics.

According to marketing director Brian Kelsey, Phoenix Gold chose to invest in the aluminum alloy chassis to the tune of a half million dollars, "to improve the thermal characteristics of the amplifier and to differentiate the brand."

Shipping in June are six models, each with 18dB continuously variable crossovers and a remote monitoring port. They range from the Tantrum 200 (50W x 2 @ 4 ohms) at $249.99 suggested retail price to the Tantrum 500.2 (125W x 2 @ 4 ohms) at $449. 99 suggested retail price. These will be joined in August by a seventh model called the Tantrum 1200 (1200W x 1 @ 2ohms) at a price to be announced.
