Fellowes Bows Notebook Power Adapter

Staff -- TWICE, 3/12/2001

ITASCA, ILL. -Fellowes Manufacturing Co. has signed a licensing and distribution agreement with Van Nuys, Calif.-based Nesco Battery Systems to manufacture and market Nesco's Smart-Adapter notebook power adapters.

Fellowes will distribute the line under its own brand through retail, commercial and e-commerce channels.

Two types of SmartAdapter notebook power adapters will be available.

The DC model, called the Super SmartAdapter, is designed to operate from mobile or portable power sources. This unit enables operation of notebook computers in automobiles, airplanes, trucks, trains and boats, or from battery packs and solar panels.

The AC unit, called the Smart-Adapter/AC, is engineered to power notebook computers and other sensitive electronic devices indoors from worldwide household power sources. These adapters automatically adjust to worldwide power requirements.

The SmartAdapter can also power many portable electronic devices, such as computing peripherals, printers, DVD and CD players, cassette tape players, GPS receivers, video games and mini-TVs.

SmartAdapters adjust to specific voltages with the turn of a switch located on the enclosure. The adapters accept interchangeable tip connectors to complete the connection to the computer or other devices to be powered. The four most popular tip sizes are included in each adapter.

The Fellowes line of SmartAdapters will be available at major computer and office retail stores, mass merchandisers and through mail order. Suggested retail is $109.95 for both units, which are currently available.
