Staff -- TWICE, 3/12/2001

LOS ANGELES -Vivitar recently announced it has thrown its hat into digicam/MP3 player convergence ring with the ViviCam 2795, a VGA-resolution digital camera capable of playing music files.

The 2795 is scheduled to ship at the end of April for a suggested retail price of $199.95.

The camera can store 29 VGA photos in its internal 2MB flash memory and is compatible with Compact Flash removable storage cards. The camera, which can capture video clips at two pictures per second, features a focus-free 7.2mm lens, automatic exposure and built-in flash.

The ViviCam 2795 also plays back music recorded in MP3 format. Users can store 10 minutes worth of MP3 files in the unit's internal memory or save up to 90 minutes on an optional 16MB Compact Flash card.

It comes with headphones, a TWAIN driver, a black-and-white LCD for text display and MP3 software, and is powered by two AA alkaline batteries, as well as an optional AC adapter that uses the camera's built-in USB port.
