Garmin Unveils Harley GPS

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 8/6/2008 2:02:00 PM

Olathe, Kan. — Garmin International is offering a version of its Zumo 550 motorcycle GPS device specifically for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

The Road Tech Zumo will be sold by Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories starting this week and marks the first time Garmin offered a custom Harley device.

The Road Tech Zumo has a custom handlebar mount that lets the Zumo snap out for use in a car or truck. It can also work with an optional XM antenna with built-in receiver for XM radio, NavTraffic and weather. It is further compatible with Clear Channel real-ime traffic.

Other features include Bluetooth as many motorcycle helmets have built-in Bluetooth headsets and an SD card slot so users can swap routes and waypoints. It includes a database of Harley dealerships and has a “glove-friendly” design with oversized touchscreen buttons and left-handed controls, as well as waterproof construction.

The Road Tech Zumo gives turn-by-turn directions, pronounces street names and has built-in maps of North America at a suggested $799.
