By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 8/4/2008 12:55:00 PM

ChicagoNEC Display Solutions of America launched a pair of DLP projectors that it said are designed to enable simpler use in corporate and educational environments.

The lightweight NP41 and NP61 models provide brightness levels of 2,300 and 3,000 lumens, respectively, and were designed for quiet operation.

NEC’s NP61 ($1,399 suggested retail) DLP projector is designed for simpler operation in corporate and educational environments.

Quick-start and quick-cooling features in both models are said to minimize setup and teardown times between meetings, while an automatic focus system instantly produces a sharp, detailed image, the company said.

The NP41 ($999 suggested retail) and NP61 ($1,399 suggested retail) both automatically detect the source and project the image with auto input selection, while their AutoSense feature intuitively syncs the projector with most computer signals and features one-touch image optimization.

An automatic vertical keystone correction technology projects a square image, even when the projector is set up at a steep offset angle.

“The NP41 and NP61 projectors provide the powerful features required by mobile users while remaining lightweight and cost-effective,” stated Rich McPherson, NEC Display Solution product manager. “Their automatic features deliver the technological innovation expected of NEC products, delivering bright and brilliant images.”

Resolution of the models is rated at 1,024 by 768, and the contrast ratios are both said to be 1,600:1.

The projectors weigh 3.5 pounds and include BrilliantColor technology with a 6-segment color wheel; 15-pin RGB, RCA and S-Video inputs; and Eco Mode technology, which increases lamp life by up to 40 percent for up to 3,500 hours.
