IPEVO Intros PoV

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 7/21/2008

SAN JOSE, CALIF. — IPEVO recently released a handheld, pen-shaped Web Cam called the PoV, which stands for "point of view."

The PoV is designed as a "point-and-shoot" Web cam that shares the user's point of view. Users can operate the camera as close as 1.5 inches from the subject, and it acts as "an extension of the eye and allows one to share a distinctive view of the world," said IPEVO.

IPEVO was formerly a division of Skype, and it spun off last December.

Suggested retail is $39.99. The PoV can currently only be used with PCs, but IPEVO is planning to introduce a Web cam that can be used with both PCs and Macs and will be optimized for ITAD.

Caroline Andreolle, marketing specialist for IPEVO, told TWICE the company is hoping to have the next camera available by the holidays. Prices for that camera will range from $40 to $90, "depending on how high the resolution is."
