URC Initiates Partner Program

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 6/17/2008 1:34:00 PM

Harrison, N.Y. — Universal Remote Control (URC) has announced a partnership program designed to enable manufacturers’ products to perform as plug-and-play devices.

The Complete Control Partner Program (CCPP) currently hosts 18 members, including Denon, Hitachi, NuVision, Sharp, Sony and Vudu. According to URC, “CCPP members fully reveal their codes and control applications to URC, and URC makes itself available to members for advice, direction, feedback and testing in the interest of providing complete, confirmed control solutions upon which custom installers and integrators can rely.”

Products involved in the CCPP will be guaranteed to work with all current and future URC control devices, the company said, and manufacturers will be able to use a CCPP logo on their packaging as proof of their participation.

“The CCPP is essentially a guarantee to dealers that they know those products will work with all URC remotes so there is no worry down the line,” a URC spokeswoman told TWICE.

Others CCPP partners include Classe Audio, Key Digital, Onkyo and Marantz, among others. URC said more partners are “on the way.”
