Canon Debuts New Portable Printers

-- TWICE, 5/14/2008 1:14:00 PM

Lake Success, N.Y. — Canon will add a pair of compact photo printers to its lineup this month, including its first model to support wireless image transfers using IrSimple technology.

The Selphy CP770 and CP760 4-inch by 6-inch printers will both incorporate 2.5-inch LCD displays along with a new overcoat print laminate to protect photos from fingerprints.

Canon said it reduced the number of buttons on the printers, from 12 on previous Selphy models to nine on the current printers. The buttons have also been enlarged.

The printers incorporate a new “portrait image optimize” technology that automatically removes red eye from photos and make adjustments to contrast.

Both models also accept the BU-30 Bluetooth adapter, $49.99.

The CP760 will retail for $99.

The $149 CP770 will support wireless transfers using IrSimple infrared technology. It will be housed in a “basket-style storage bucket” capable of holding extra paper, ink and a power cord, Canon said.

The CP770 also works with the optional NB-CP2 battery pack, $79.99.
