hhgregg Opens 1st Florida Stores

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — hhgregg formally open its first two Florida stores last month.
The stores, located here and in Daytona Beach, are the first of about 30 boxes that the Indianapolis-based majap and CE chain plans to operate in the Sunshine State.
"Our expansion into Florida demonstrates hhgregg's continued strong and controlled growth strategy of breaking into new markets with multiple locations," said hhgregg chairman/CEO Jerry Throgmartin.
Florida will be the company's focus for the next couple of years, noted Jeff Pearson, the chain's marketing VP. "Florida continues to show tremendous growth and the demographics of the retail market support the products we offer," he said.
The chain is expected to enter the Tallahassee market in early spring and the Orlando area by the end of May.
