Dell Reports Mixed Q4 Results

By Staff -- TWICE, 3/10/2008

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — Dell posted revenue and net income gains for its 2008 fiscal year, but the company's fourth quarter was not as bright with net income falling 6 percent during that period.

For fiscal 2008, ended Feb. 1, the company generated $61.1 billion in revenue, up 6 percent over 2007 and $2.9 billion in net income, a 14 percent increase. However, its fourth quarter was a bit tougher with net income falling 6 percent to $679 million on overall sales for the quarter of $16 billion, the company reported.

Dell executives said the company will continue to stress cost cutting and increasing production cycles to help get it fully back on track.

Dell said its notebook unit sales increased 37 percent year-over-year with a corresponding 24 percent increase in revenue. Desktop unit PC sales were up 10 percent with revenues rising 2 percent.
