i2i Stream Lets Listeners Share Music

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 1/21/2008

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. — Aerielle announced its i2i Stream digital music broadcaster earlier this month. Billed as a "one-to-many wireless portable audio sharing accessory," the i2i Stream allows one to wirelessly broadcast high-quality audio and share the music with other i2i Stream users.

It can be used with iPods and other MP3 players, as well as with CD or DVD players. To start streaming, users plug one i2i Stream into any audio player headphone jack and select a channel to broadcast through (seven broadcast colors are available). To receive a stream, users plug their headphones into a second i2i Stream and select a broadcast channel in use by another i2i Stream user. A music player is not necessary to receive streams.

It is possible to broadcast to hundreds of other i2i Stream users from a single channel within a 30-foot radius, according to the company, and up to three channels can be broadcast in the same location without interference. A volume dial controls audio levels, regardless of a media player's settings.

"We think our market is the teens and tweens who are social networking one way or another. Sharing is big," Chris Stocker, Aerielle sales and marketing VP, told TWICE in a meeting.

A single i2i Stream retails for a suggested $69.95, while a two-pack is $129
