Jasco Adds To GE DTV Accessories, Home Security Lines

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/7/2008

LAS VEGAS — Jasco Products brought to International CES an expanded line of its licensed GE-brand accessories, including new digital TV products, home monitoring and home control devices and its latest Z-Wave home-lighting products.

For digital TV owners, Jasco is showing the GE Viper digital antenna at Central Hall, booth 9005.

The antenna, with HD3 technology, is optimized to receive digital television signals and designed to discreetly mount on the back of flat-panel televisions or on the wall as a cable management solution. At less than 1-inch thick, the Viper adheres to the back of the television without interfering with wall mounts or additional peripherals.

It also features a cable channel, which allows the antenna to attach to the wall and conceal wires running to game consoles, DVD players and set-top boxes. The finish is paintable, so the consumer can blend the Viper into any décor.

It has a suggested retail of $59.99 and is a 2008 CES Innovations Awards honoree.

The GE Ultra Pro HDTV digital tuner converts off-air digital television signals for use with analog televisions. The tuner outputs 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i resolutions, and includes an on-screen digital program guide.

To further enhance the DTV signal, the tuner supports Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound, and includes HDMI direct digital output and universal IR remote.

The GE Ultra Pro HDTV digital tuner also meets NTIA standards for participation in the nationwide coupon voucher program. It will retail for $59.99.

Jasco's DTV accessories offerings are rounded out by a line of Ultra Pro HDMI 1.3 cables and adapters, including DVI-to-HDMI cables, switch boxes, splitters, repeaters, extension adapters, DVI-to-HDMI adapters and wall plates. They range in price from $12.99 to $99.99.

Jasco has also added to its line of GE home monitoring surveillance cameras. At the top is the GE Wireless color camera and LCD monitor, at a suggested $179. The 2008 Innovations honoree is a kit that includes a camera with night-vision capabilities and a monitor with a 2.5-inch LCD screen, slightly larger than most on the market, according to the company.

The camera can be used freestanding or secured to a wall, and transmits color video and sound up to 200 feet. The low-profile LCD monitor receives the signal from the wireless camera and can be used on or off the charging stand.

For consumers looking to add surveillance capabilities to an existing television, the GE Wireless color camera and receiver ($99.99) can hook up to any television with A/V inputs.

Roughly the size of a deck of cards, the receiver integrates into most home television setups, according to Jasco, and allows users to toggle between two camera views. The camera includes night vision capabilities and audio detection notification (a feature on all Jasco's existing wireless systems) that turns on the camera when it senses a noise disturbance. The kit, at $119, includes a 5.5-inch dedicated portable monitor to provide an additional security solution.

The home surveillance camera line also includes the GE wired camera and black-and-white monitor ($89.99), add-on wireless color camera ($69.99) and wired color camera ($59.99).

Also new from Jasco is an expanded line of GE Z-Wave Home Lighting Controls, which will be on display at the Z-Wave Alliance booth, South Hall 20419, as well as Jasco's booth.

The company calls its Z-Wave line it's "first complete system that enables users to wirelessly control lighting and small appliances in the home using revolutionary Z-Wave technology."

The controls feature eight key products: remote, advanced remote, lamp module, fluorescent light and appliance module, outdoor dodule, duplex receptacle, dimmer switch and three-way dimmer kit. They range from $44.95 to $69.95 and give users the ability to construct lighting and appliance control systems to meet their household's needs.

The system can accommodate a network of up to 232 individual Z-Wave nodes.
