DXG Bows 10 Megapixels For $169

City of Industry, Calif. — DXG staked out an aggressive price point for its new 10-megapixel digital camera. The DXG-110 will carry an estimated street price of $169. The camera features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom lens, VGA/30 fps video capture and 32MB worth of internal memory. The camera also features face detection, AF tracking, a focus illuminator and ISO 1600. A new automatic contrast-management feature analyzes an image's contrast levels and adjusts the dynamic range in high contrast scenes. The processing is done in 12-bit resolution, according to the company. Also new is a dynamic fill light which brings out details in high contrast scenes, such as details obscured by backlighting.

Canon Offers Try Before You Buy Printer Promo

Lake Success, N.Y. — Canon's new "Try My Photo" program will let consumers upload images and have them output on select Canon home printers. The program will initially use the Selphy ES2 compact printer, originally announced in September. Consumers can upload a single personal image and have it returned to a domestic U.S. address free of charge. Eventually, Canon said it would expand the number of printers available for consumers to test.
