Select Products Launches Car Stereo Search Engine

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 12/3/2007

PLANTATION, FLA. — Select Products is introducing a new database/search engine for car stereo integration products that is continuously updated and contoured to each store.

Called Select Net, the search engine includes all available car stereo interfacing products, kits and harnesses on the market, and a fit guide to determine in which cars they may be installed. As of January, the search engine will also include all HD-Radio products and headrest monitors, said Select Products president Robert Garza.

Aimed at retailers, Select Net can be configured to include only those products carried by the particular retailer. It is "community based" so installers can update the data base with information on their latest installations and share that information with other installers as well as salesmen. Select Net is already in use at Car Toys and will go live with Tweeter on Dec. 1, followed by Custom Sounds in January, said Garza.

Select Products says its search engine is unique because it is "community based" and interactive with the installers. "An installer in one store can post pictures of an installation or of other cars in their repertoire and that gets shared throughout the community. So, at Car Toys, they have 450 installers, and now all 400 guys know what that one installer knows."

Select Products says vendors have access to the database to add new products and delete old models.

A specialty store version of Select Net will also be available.
