Gateway Bows 2 LCD Displays

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 11/5/2007

IRVINE, CALIF. — Gateway introduced two high-definition widescreen LCD displays, the 24-inch FHD2400 and the 22-inch HD2200.

The models feature multiple analog and video inputs and EzTouch bezels with back-lit buttons that are said to remain "effectively invisible until needed." The touch-sensitive buttons allow users to control factors like brightness, contrast and more.

Both models also offer integrated DCDi by Faroudja video processing; built-in high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP); a DVI-D interface; and a variety of inputs including HDMI, VGA and component connectors.

The 24-inch model also features a composite and S-Video interface, as well as a built-in, self-powered four-port USB 2.0 hub.

The 24-inch model is said to offer 1080p HD support and 1,920 by 1,200 resolution and an Ultrabright Glare panel with a 92 percent color gamut. It features a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness and 3ms refresh rate.

Its auto-rotation capability is said to allow the display to be viewed in both landscape and portrait modes. The monitor comes with Gateway EzTune software that automatically adjusts the screen image when the monitor is moved between orientations. According to the company, the software also "provides advanced color calibration, making it ideal for photographers, artists and graphic designers." The monitor's stand is height-adjustable and can be raised, lowered, swiveled, tilted and rotated for user comfort.

The FHD2400 is available now for a suggested $549 and an optional speaker bar is $49.99.

Gateway's new 22-inch model offers 720p HD support and 1,680 by 1,050 resolution, as well as a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and a 4ms refresh rate.

It comes with a standard tilt stand and has a built-in orientation sensor to automatically rotate the image on screen when coupled with an optional height-adjustable stand. This product is also available now for a suggested $349 with an optional speaker bar at $39.99.
