Canon Adds 2 REALiS LCoS Projectors

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/19/2007 9:14:00 AM

Lake Success, N.Y. — Canon U.S.A. has added two models to its high-definition LCoS REALiS multimedia projector line, each targeting professional applications.

The REALiS SX7 ($6,999 suggested retail) and the REALiS X700 ($3,999) feature Canon’s proprietary AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) optical engine, which is said to maximize the capability of advanced LCoS panels to deliver detailed, lattice-free motion and still images.

Both models also feature a new 275-watt AC projection lamp that provides richer color reproduction and longer life (from 2,000 to 3,000 hours) than earlier models.

Brightness for both models is listed at 4,000 ANSI lumens, and the contrast ratio is said to be 1,000:1.

The REALiS SX7 features SXGA+ (1,400 by 1,050) resolution and supports Adobe RGB and sRGB color space, which are said to be important for applications requiring precise color matching. Operating noise is said to be as low as 31dB.

The REALiS X700 is billed as the line’s “new price performance leader.” Resolution is listed as XGA (1,024 by 768). The REALiS X700 is ideal for business presentations and boardroom installations and also features three stereo audio inputs and one variable stereo audio output for versatility in sound reproduction. The manufacturer's suggested list price of the REALiS X700 multimedia projector is $3999.

“The new REALiS SX7 and REALiS X700 multimedia projectors provide improved display performance, longer lamp life and even stereo audio connectivity,” stated Yuichi Ishizuka, Canon U.S.A. consumer imaging group senior VP/GM. “Crisp, high-resolution imagery, intricate detail, exceptional brightness, superior color accuracy and innovative ease-of-use functions are built into most REALiS multimedia projectors. Now, with the introduction of the REALiS SX7 and REALiS X700, the REALiS multimedia projector line includes models engineered to meet the demands of an even wider array of professional users.”

All REALiS models also include a 1.7x powered Canon zoom lens; guide message display in an onscreen window, auto set-up, built-in speaker, off and go, LED illumination for at-a-glance operating and connection status, remote-control, HDCP-compliant DVI-I terminal, Motion Adaptive IP conversion with film mode 2:3 pull-down, multiple PC inputs, and digital and analog video inputs.
