Cineak Makes Splash With Seats

By John Laposky -- TWICE, 9/17/2007

DENVER — European furniture specialist Cineak brought its line of high-end theater seating to CEDIA Expo.

It was familiar territory for the company which was founded in 1999 when a European-based custom electronics integration company was in need of luxury home theater seats for a private home theater. Unable to find anything worthy of the project, Belgian designers were contacted and they developed the company's first product, the Fortuny deluxe chair.

As a result, "Cineak was founded from a mission to provide custom-designed home theater and lounge seating products that blend technology, aesthetic elegance, comfort and luxury with the finest materials and quality craftsmanship," the company said.

On hand at CEDIA was the company's new Strato chair. The seat is upholstered with semi-aniline leather with a minimum of visible stitching. A concealed dual motorized incline system enables the user to control the leg rest separately from the backrest. While adjusting the back, the head support will automatically move up and down. Loose lumbar cushions can give extra back support.

The modular concept of the Strato allows users to create numerous configurations. The armrests are offered in two sizes as well as a curved option. The seating parts are available in two different seating widths and come stationary or with a dual-motorized incline mechanism.

The Strato can be used as a regular sofa or theater rows can be built using armrests between seating parts.

Also on display was The Vedette chair, a steel-frame model with reclining system available in dual motor, single motor or pneumatic versions that adjust the backrest independently from the leg rest.

An articulating headrest provides neck support while reclined and allows for the correct viewing angle of the TV screen.

It features double back cushioning with high-density foam stuffing.

Both models and the rest of Cineak's line are available in multiple custom configurations. Pricing can be obtained by emailing info@cineak.com.
