Garmin Remembers The Forgetful

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 9/17/2007

OLATHE, KAN. — The three PNDs in Garmin's new 700 series are the first from a major supplier to offer a "Where's my car?" feature as well as an emergency feature that displays the nearest hospital, police and gas stations, intersection and vehicle's current longitude and latitude at the touch of a button.

With the "Where's my car?" feature, drivers who take a 700 PND with them when they leave their car can use it to guide themselves back to the car.

The 700 series consists of the Nuvi 750, 760 and 770 at suggested $599, $799 and $999, respectively. All are due in September with 4.3-inch widescreen color touchscreen and the same downsized form factor as the 200 series. The two top-end models offer FM real-time traffic receiver and Bluetooth, and all three feature MP3 player and built-in FM transmitter to play music through a car's speakers. Through Bluetooth, the 760 and 770 let users tap on the screen to display and dial phone numbers of points of interest (POI) in the device's database.
