Kove Audio Re-Enters Amp Market

Staff -- TWICE, 2/26/2001

CALABASAS, CALIF. -Kove Audio is re-entering the amplifier market this year, with a new series based on its original Optidrive amplifiers.

According to Kove president Gary Kovner, the company is launching a new ZX series because "our dealers are asking us to. We have a history in the amplifier business. We were the original developers of the original Optidrives, and a lot of dealers have been asking us to bring out something of that quality."

The line will consist of five models, the first of which will ship in March. Called the ZX 1000, it has two separate power supplies (one for each channel) and a power output of 700 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, 350 watts x 2 at 2 ohms, and 200 watts x 2 at 4 ohms. It has 20 Ultra Low Impedance MOSFETS and uses a complementary discrete bipolar design.

The ZX 1000 is built with custom-wound low-loss transformers. It has a variable electronic crossover with switchable LP/HP/full-range selection, and it includes a bass EQ with up to 15dB boost centered at 45kHz. Suggested retail price is $599.
