Ceiva Debuts Digital Frame

ORLANDO, FLA. —Los Angeles-based Ceiva Logic introduced at PMA its second-generation digital frame, the Ceiva II Digital Picture Frame. Created by the design firm IDEO, the Ceiva II will ship this summer for a suggested retail price of approximately $299. The Ceiva II can hold 36 images on its 8MB of internal memory, while an online option allows users to store up to 1,000 images. The 8 x 10-inch frame has an LCD screen for viewing and connects to the Web so users can subscribe to the required Ceiva Network, which costs $49.95 per year.

SanDisk, Zoran Team Up For MPEG-4 Advancements

ORLANDO, FLA. —SanDisk and Zoran announced that they are partnering to accelerate the development of MPEG-4 digital cameras, flash memory cards and standards. Under a memorandum of understanding signed by both firms, Zoran will integrate new MPEG-4 technologies and other features into its COACH (Camera On a Chip) processor with SanDisk's technical support, marketing input and partial funding. Both companies will collaborate in adding MPEG-4 technology to digital camera systems and flash memory. The new chip will be optimized to work in future digital cameras that use Multi-MediaCards, Secure Digital flash memory cards, CompactFlash cards and TriFlash components produced by SanDisk. Availability of digital cameras that incorporate the new chip is currently projected for second-half 2002.

Targus Intros Camera Bags

ORLANDO, FLA. —Targus introduced at PMA three new lines of digital camera case accessories: Pro Black, Adventure and Sport. The Pro Black camera case line features suspension shoulder straps, protective zippered top closure with inner mesh zippered pocket, a durable T-Leatherette and Nylon-twill exterior and a large front-flap accessory pocket with self-adhesive closure and inner storage compartments. The Adventure Line is designed to endure harsh climates and features a suspension shoulder strap. All Adventure Line bags offer some of the following features, depending on size: protective zippered top closure with inner mesh pocket, co-molded handle and a large front-flap pocket with inner accessory pockets. Rounding out the introduction is the Sport Line, in silver, charcoal and iridescent blue.
