Abt To Host 6th Annual Charity Golf Benefit

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 6/4/2007

Glenview, Ill. — The For Autistic Kids Foundation, a charity that was started by the owners of Abt Electronics, will host its 6th Annual Golf Benefit on Monday, July 16. The event will take place at the Glen View Club here.

The organization was started by the Abt family to raise funds for a variety of autism-related causes such as benefiting families with autistic children and more.

The annual golf event is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year according to Abt's Martha Harpling. She said that the company is expecting about 200 golfers to participate this year.

According to Harpling much of the event is funded by vendors such as Whirlpool, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba and others who sponsor holes on the course. Last year the event raised more than $200,000 and the organization has amassed more than $1 million for autism over the past five years.

For more information on the event or the organization visit www.forautistickids.org or call Ricky Abt at (847) 544-2301.
