Chrysler Will Launch Sirius TV

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 4/9/2007

NEW YORK — Sirius announced market plans for its long anticipated satellite TV system, with Chrysler to be the first car manufacturer to offer the service. An after-market debut of the service may follow later this year, said the company.

The new Sirius Backseat TV will be produced by Delphi and offer programming from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network over three channels in select 2008 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles starting at the end of this year.

Sirius said it is possible that other car makers will offer Sirius Backseat TV in the future. It did not offer details on an expected after-market rollout.

Using two small roof-mounted antennas, the Sirius/Chrysler system provides a satellite radio receiver and displays video over one or two screens at a suggested retail of $470, including the first year of service.
