Skypatrol Bows Car Locator

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 2/26/2007

MIAMI — Skypatrol is offering a consumer-aimed car locator with a flat-rate service fee of $19.99 per month for unlimited use.

The device will be sold beginning April 15 through mass merchants, with installation provided through InstallerNet's network of 6,000 installers. The Skypatrol locator has a suggested retail of $499 plus $79.99 for installation.

The company said the product is aimed at families seeking to discourage aggressive teen driving and protect senior drivers.

Skypatrol uses GPS and cellular technology to allow Web tracking of a vehicle with position reports every 15 minutes, as well as speed alerts sent via e-mail or text message to a cellular phone and 24/7 access to a customer care center.
